Sometimes, you really don’t need someone to identify that he’s a Nigerian. From his/her actions and behaviours, you should be able to decipher.
We compiled a few of these acts that you can use as a litmus paper test to determine how Nigerian an individual is:
1. Nigerians love titles
Nigerians are ardent lovers of titles and all. It get’s bad that some people totally ignore the message if their titles aren’t mentioned the right way, whether deliberately or indeliberately.
2. We love coming late to events
There’s Nigerian time and then there’s African time. When there’s an event for 11am, African time demands you to be there by say 11:30 or a few minutes to 12 but Nigerian time expects you to start preparing by 12 noon or 12:30pm.
3. Nigerians love noise
Nigerians love everything loud. Phone calls, music from the radio at home, conversations with people? Name it. We always want to disturb people and we really do not care what they think about it.
4. We love to mind other people’s business
At this point, I honestly do not think there are people in this world who are as intrusive as Nigerians. Nigerians will add to things that do not concern them just because they feel they should drop their two cents, which isn’t always welcomed.
5. We are hardworking
The average Nigerian is a hustler, which pretty much explains why people are so quick to say “God bless your hustle” to everyone because yeah, everyone’s supposed to be hustling. He will work from morning to evening and rest for a few hours before returning to the work life again.
6. We love to party
Nigerians love to party a lot. Clubs, Owambe, dinners, everything, name it. We know how to turn it up to the fullest! It will even shock you that a hardworking Nigerian who works from 8-8 will spend all the money he makes in the week just to have a lit weekend.
7. We love respect
This is similar somehow to the fact that we love titles, but well it takes a different approach. We love respect. Make the mistake of not greeting a Nigerian elder or even not greeting properly and you’ll be schooled like it was such an unforgivable mistake you made.
